SLO Ocean Currents
International Travel
For 30+ years we have been taking clients to international destinations that often have both excellent diving and cultural experiences. Many of our trips have been land based, but the demand of the live-a board style of diving has us mixing in a combinations of affordable land based trips to high end exotic boat based destinations. It has taken quite a few years for us to realize that our clients enjoy the simplicity of just joining our group, making a payment and checking their passport. We always send a staff to lead you through the trip and make sure everything is up to par.
Land based destinations are usually a week long trip with 5 days of diving, room accommodations and sometimes meals. Each trip is different due to cultural experiences and local availability. Often we offer extensions or can assist you with your very own extension plans.
Live-a-board trips are usually one week to 14 days depending on locations. We assist with you getting there and onto the vessel and throughout your journey. Live-a-board diving is really taking advantage of location, location, location. A very casual dress attire, a short walk to your room, great food and dive about as much as you want. Often cultural experiences can also be done on short land tours or on board.
Being dive travel professionals we work closely with dive resorts and dive wholesalers who often package trips together to get great pricing and bulk airfare options.

Experience Multi-Day Boat Dives in California Waters!
SLO Ocean Currents has multi-day boat trips on our list of great mini vacations. To hold your spot on any of these trips requires a $100 deposit - first come, first served. We charter the Channel Islands Expeditions boats such as Truth and Vision out of Santa Barbara. We also charter the Peace out of Ventura. These multi trips are live-a-board style while remaining out at sea until scheduled return time. These boats were designed and built for California divers, with single and multi day excursions in mind. Destinations are weather dependent and we strive to find the best dive sites available. With multi day diving we have the option of diving different islands on a single trip. With comforts such as roomy decks, bunks, hot showers, incredible food, and a great crew, this is sure to be a wonderful trip for all divers and non-divers alike.
Over the trip, the schedule is loose and convenient affording as much or as little bottom time as you would like. Gates typically open at seven in the morning and the boat will make many moves throughout the day. There are three meals scheduled daily with snacks and beverages available all day long. All the food is included in the price of the trip and eating this well-prepared menu is worth the price of admission alone. If you did not get enough diving in during the day, there may also be scheduled night dives (weather permitting). For those who prefer stargazing and sharing a story or two during desert, there is not a better beachfront table to sit at on the West coast. One of the many advantages of diving in this live-a-board fashion is that you get to pick and choose your dives, gain experience due to repetition, and experience proper dive planning. Not only will the diving be great, the time shared with diving companions will be sure to make some new dive buddies for future trips.
One-day trips are a great way to get out and enjoy the Channel Islands, but there are definitely limitations. I have been able to make quite a few multi-day trips and I am here to say there is nothing like it. Hope you can make some time in your schedules to get away from it all and enjoy a short vacation with your friends and new found dive buddies.
